UPDATE The 2024 regular legislative session is now adjourned and I’m excited to announce that the Farm Winery Bill passed. As sponsor of the bill, this was an important one for Jefferson County and our local farms. Allowing them the ability to diversify their farming operations and to allow for on-premises tastings without the onerous tax burden such businesses had to deal with previously. The final bill extended this opportunity to West Virginia’s homegrown distilleries allowing companies like @DevilsDue and hopefully new wineries and distillers to open new businesses here in Jefferson County. Kudos to my fellow Eastern Panhandle Delegates who joined me in leading this legislation: Delegates Paul Espinosa, Mike Hite, Eric Householder, John Hardy, and Charles Horst. Great things can happen when we work together!
